About

The digital SPIR solution is a collaborative platform between operators, contractors and suppliers, to ensure efficient data flow, governance, and transparency between all entities in the SPIR process.

SPIR (“Spare Parts and Interchangeability Record”) is ensuring spare part recommendations for projects, modifications and operations. The SPIR process consists of activities from operators, contractors and suppliers, and needs to be delivered to support repair- and maintenance strategy for installed and stock equipment.

By shifting from the traditional SPIR process using excel sheets, operators, contractors and suppliers can;

  • Standardise workflows, roles and responsibilities
  • Improve communication between operators, contractors and suppliers through a digital interface
  • Reduce time and resources required in SPIR
  • Enhance data quality and facilitate reusability from EqHub
  • Benefit from APIs and data from associated and interconnected services (e.g., EqHub, Virtual Inventory, internal ERP systems)

History of SPIR

A brief history of the SPIR process

The first SPIRs were handwritten.

Later, Excel sheets were used.

  • EqHub will provide a near seamless delivery interface for SPIR and project related information (projects, packages, tags). Inputs will ultimately be stored in the EqHub sphere, but only becoming available to those associated with a SPIR delivery process, case by case.

  • Commercial information as provided by suppliers is only available to those defined as privvy to such information by the SPIR owner/coordinator.

  • Typically, access to SPIR specific data will be defined by owner/coordinator. Supplier will be able to understand who can/cannot access this information.

Owner/coordinator will be able to assign users to roles Owner, Coordinator, Quality assurance, Evaluator, Document control, Information manager, most of which are optional.

A supplier will always have access to own submitted data against a SPIR delivery.

  • One of the goals of the SPIR initiative is to encourage the industry to reduce excessive document requirements.

  • In the following phases it is planned to integrate with VI for work with material master numbers and available stock.

  • Yes, as long as operator has exposed data in Virtual Inventory, the same data can be accessed and mapped against in SPIR.

  • Yes. See section “API”
